Memorial Day in Charleston

On our way to Charleston

Amen Street

In the carriage

We spent Memorial Day in Charleston.  We had a fun lunch and then took a carriage ride to see some of the historical sites.  We're planning to go back another day while we're here.  There's so much to do, we couldn't fit it all in one day, especially with the kids.  We didn't try to keep them on their nap schedules every day and this was one of those days.  Sayler ended up falling asleep in the carriage and Tripp took his nap on the way home.    When a meltdown was about to occur, we bribed them with sorbet and ice cream, buying us another hour before we had to leave.

Heading to the Beach

The kids really enjoyed our first day at the beach.  Our house is a 5-minute walk and luckily we have this precious (and handy!) wagon to help us haul everything.  Sayler kept saying "To the water!" while she was in the wagon.  The first time we set out on our walk, it started to pour down rain and we ran back to the house.  About 5 minutes after we got back, it was sunny so we tried it again and this time the weather cooperated.  Sayler loved the ocean and liked to jump in the waves (with us holding her hands).  Tripp preferred to play in the sand and "build" sand castles.

On Our Way to South Carolina!

On Saturday we flew with my family to Charleston, SC for our Parker Summer Vacation.  We rented a house on Kiawah Island and have been loving it.  I had been dreading flying with 2 little ones but they did great.  We got up at 3:45am to make our flight from San Antonio to Houston and then flew with my family from Houston to Charleston.  Both kids had been up since 4:30am and were really good considering their need for a nap.  Tripp finally gave in and slept for the ENTIRE flight (over 2 hours)!  He slept on my shoulder which wasn't the most comfortable thing for me, but I didn't care because at least he was sleeping instead of screaming.  Sayler stayed busy coloring and eating all of the peanuts the flight attendant would give her.

Not a Baby Any More...

We celebrated Tripp's 1st birthday yesterday.  I can't believe he's already one!  It has been so fun having a little boy.  He has a very sweet relationship with Sayler and we love to watch them play together.  After opening presents our house is now full of boy toys!

Lexie's Graduation Weekend

3 UT Delta Gammas!

My sister, Lexie, graduated from The University of Texas last weekend!  The kids stayed in Kerrville with Tracy's mom and aunt.  Being a third generation Longhorn, both ceremonies meant a lot to me.  The university-wide commencement was amazing.  I'm hopeful that in 2032 and 2033 Tracy and I are back in those seats for Sayler & Tripp's graduations!

Happy Mother's Day!

Our Mother's Day weekend was fun & very relaxing.  Tracy and I went to dinner with friends Friday night, played with the kids on Saturday, and then we all went to church Sunday morning.

Big Boy Car Seat

Tripp was getting way too big for his infant car seat.  He fit in it once he was buckled in but it was almost impossible getting the straps around his arms.  He loves his new Britax Advocate!

Dallas Zoo

In the water park
Loving the giant caterpillar

On the carousel

Today we spent the morning at the Dallas zoo.  After just a few hours the kids (and my mom & I) were exhausted.  We tried to take Sayler on the pony ride but she was scared and didn't even want to get on.   There was also a scary emu situation where Sayler screamed when an emu popped out of nowhere while we were looking at the kangeroos, but she quickly got over it.
